French Toast on the Egg
The BBQ-Brethren throwdown this week was breakfast. I wanted something more original since I knew the competition would be tough. The weather broke long enough for me to make French Toast. I got the idea from King Hawaiian’s web site. I wished I could have found some of their bread to use.
Anyway, we mix up the batter consisting of the following ingredients then dipped the strawberry stuffed bread into the batter.
- 4 large eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 1/8 tsp. nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/4 cup sugar, optional
Then onto a hot cast iron griddle. My egg was running around 400.
You only need to leave it on for a few minutes each side. Here is a close up plated.
Before I made this, I smoked a fatty (Jimmy Dean Sausage Roll) rubbed in Dizzy Pig Raging River to give a hint of maple.
