Smokin in the Junction

Got word of a new contest today and the best part is it is as close to home as I can get. Smokin in the Junction will be May 23rd in the Valley Junction area of West Des Moines. This is a non-sanction contest. We will be cooking chicken, ribs and pork loin. Payout to the top five in each category. Should be a good time.

My buddy Jerry was talking about competition chicken and it made me hungry for it. Not quite competition recipe but still good. I trimmed up these thighs and rubbed with Plowboys Yardbird. A little Old Ray’s Kentucky BBQ Sauce. Not bad. Had some Rice a Roni chicken and garlic rice and a crecent roll. Side salad not pictured.
Would you buy contest meat?

This coming BBQ season we have a contest pretty much every weekend in June and July. That’s a lot of meat and a lot of left overs. So I pose the question. Would any of you be interested in buying left over meat from our competitions? It is mostly pork and brisket and maybe a few ribs.

Description: Buster Dog BBQ will be competing the 2009 Iowa State BBQ Championship. The last two years we have finished in the top 10 in chicken out of more than 60 teams. We hope to continue that trend this year and more.
